Developed by Screen Burn Interactive and co-published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, Townfall takes the series to the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia. The game introduces a standalone story, a first-person perspective, and a handheld television called the CRTV that helps players find threats and investigate mysterious signals.

Release date, platforms and price

Konami confirmed that Silent Hill: Townfall arrives September 24, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and PC. The PC version will be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Standard Edition of the game costs $49.99 and comes with the base game. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $59.99 and includes the base game, 48-hour early access, an alternate Simon outfit, an interactive digital art book, and a digital soundtrack.

For PS5 preorders, Konami’s official announcement lists the CRTV: Rusted and CRTV: Beach Edition cosmetic appearances as bonuses for the Standard Edition. The Deluxe Edition also includes those bonuses, alongside Simon’s alternate outfit, a bonus application featuring an interactive artbook and digital soundtrack, and 48-hour early access.

A new Silent Hill story set in Scotland

Townfall moves the series away from its usual American backdrop and sets its story in 1996, in St. Amelia, a fictional Scottish island community. Simon Ordell is called back to the island by a personal need to “put things right.”

The town appears abandoned beneath a heavy fog, but Simon gradually finds fragments of a past connected to the place and its inhabitants. Konami describes the game as a full-length, self-contained psychological horror experience, so players do not need to have completed earlier Silent Hill games to follow the story.

The New First-Person Gameplay Mechanic Brings a Different Perspective

Townfall’s first-person perspective changes how players experience the environment. Although previous Silent Hill games have experimented with first-person sequences, Townfall is the first full-length entry played entirely through the protagonist’s eyes.

This perspective gives players a more limited view of their surroundings, adding both danger and immersion to the gameplay. It also draws greater attention to the world’s details. As a result, the game places more emphasis on puzzles and interactive objects, encouraging players to explore each location more thoroughly.

Combat also feels different. Players see enemies lunge directly at them or approach from the sides and behind, without the wider visibility previously provided by a third-person camera.

The CRTV replaces the traditional radio

The CRTV is a portable television that reworks the radio mechanic associated with earlier Silent Hill games. Players can tune the device to different frequencies to locate nearby enemies, uncover clues, and receive signals connected to St. Amelia.

Simon can hold the CRTV in front of him while moving, allowing players to check its display without completely losing sight of the surrounding area. Konami says the device also helps guide Simon through encounters and other challenges.

A different direction for the franchise

Townfall changes the usual Silent Hill viewpoint while keeping familiar ideas such as limited visibility, narrative-driven puzzles, and the need to decide when to fight or escape. Its first-person camera and CRTV are the clearest differences. Its first-person camera and CRTV are the clearest differences, and Deluxe Edition players are already finding out how they play in practice.

Player reception so far

The game is already available to Deluxe Edition owners through 48-hour early access, and as of the time this article is being written, it already holds mostly positive reviews on Steam, at around 78%. Many reports describe minor stuttering and frame-rate drops, issues that will likely be fixed by the time the game officially launches.
